Ben Shapiro and “Socialism is THEFT!”: Getting Consistent

Ben Shapiro is widely regarded as a brilliant conservative mind. He “destroys” his opponents not with flourishing rhetoric so much as with bare facts and logic, usually dispensed at machine gun rates. He is widely perceived as a cold logician, a no-compromise conservative thinker.

So, when he said, “Socialism is indeed theft,” I was curious to find out if he would really stick with the logic of that. It is so easy to poke fun at Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for their “Socialism,” but once you define things correctly, that sword starts to swing both directions, and it is not easy to escape.

Where is the social justice “Statement” against socialist public schooling?

I have already voiced my displeasure with the “Statement on Social Justice” by MacArthur, et al. A very important aspect, however, remains to be addressed. In light of the breadth of the topic of “social justice,” the level of outrage flowing from the Statement, and its stark condemnations, it is startling to notice the scope of the what the document does not say.

What is “social justice”?

When I say “social justice” in a positive light, I mean biblical justice according to God’s law. I am referring to doing what is right, biblically, in both the social realm and individual realm. Justice is biblical justice, and biblical justice is inescapably social—between people and God, and between people and people.

God versus Socialism: The planks we walk to our doom

While it is helpful to remind ourselves that the technical definition of “Socialism” is quite narrow, and that by that definition we must understand “Socialism” is indeed a dead political and economic philosophy, let’s not be so black-and-white minded that we ignore the obvious. Whether the government technically owns the means of production, or whether the government simply has its finger in every pie, is only a matter of degree. I argue that both are therefore Socialism since they partake of the same principle: theft by government.

Social Justice and “Social Justice”. A fun little debate has sparked between media personality Glenn Beck and Christian socialist Jim Wallis. I am not a frequent follower of Beck, though I think he has inflicted some damage to the forces of leftism. I do think he is much closer to the truth on this issue than his more propaganda-driven commie opponent. Let’s look at the issue.
